Basic Purse Tutorial: Sewing Project for Beginners

Hey everyone! Today, I have a fun sewing tutorial for you all to try for your dolls! This is a basic project for beginners like me. :)

We are going to make a simple purse for your doll.
You will need: 2 pieces of fabric, any size you want, but make sure they are both the same size. Scissors, and some cute ribbon.

First take one piece of fabric and hem the top.
Repeat with the other piece.

Now I have both pieces done!

Make sure the pieces are placed good side to good side. Now sew the sided and the bottom. Make sure you don't sew
the top!

Now turn it inside out.

Now all you have to do is sew ribbon to the sides!

Just measure however long you want it then cut!

That's it!

Summer loves her new purse!

Are you a beginner or advanced, or do you not like to sew at all?

  3. Cute! I wish I had thought of that when I was a beginner. xD I would consider myself intermediate at sewing.

  5. I love love love to sew, but I only do it by hand. I'd say that by now I'm not a beginner anymore, but I haven't really ever tried anything 'hard' so I don't know... well, I'm off to sew a bag.

  11. I would say that I am intermediate closer to advanced, but sometimes it is just plain old hard! How old are you? I am 13. If you are looking for more doll clothes patterns you can hop on over Liberty Jane Clothing on Pixie Faire. Just google it. they have A BUNCH of patterns! And some of them are free! Also they have Freebie Fridays! Great Blog. I hope you check it out, by the way I have nothing to do with it.

  12. To make this even easier, you could take one long rectangle, hem it at the top and then just fold it in half and sew up the one side and the bottom. I am not an advanced seamstress but I do love to sew! Thanks for this! :)

  13. I am definitely an advanced! I've made a dress, wrap skirt, doll clothes(from your blog and many others), and next year I'm starting an intermediate sewing class where I get to make a really fancy blouse. My aunt helps me with a lot of it. :)
